FROM THE SHORES OF LAKE KIVU

"The renaming of the label to KIVUROOTS marks a conscious return to my origins. After more than two decades abroad, the name reflects my reconnection with where the journey began. It represents a stronger identity and a renewed foundation for the next chapter of our label."

Aimé Bugingo aka Amigo Gwan

OUR LABEL'S STORY

KIVUROOTS RECORDS

formerly known as Brodahood Records.

Founded in 2019 in Geneva, Switzerland, KIVUROOTS RECORDS emerges from a deep musical journey carried by its founder, Aimé Bugingo (Amigo Gwan). Through years of travel, musical studies, encounters and cultural exchanges across the globe, a vision was born: to build a home for authentic sounds and to uplift the voices of artists met along the way.

Over the years, this journey led to meaningful connections and exchanges with artists from across the international Reggae community, including Lutan Fyah, Ky-Mani Marley, Protoje, Fantan Mojah, Meta Dia, Third World, Norris Man, Chezidek, Warrior King, Jah9 and Turbulence. These encounters, conversations and collaborations helped shape the label's vision and strengthened its connection to the global roots music movement.

Through tour management and international artist relations, KIVUROOTS has also been involved in managing and organizing tours with Jah Mason, Raging Fyah and Kumar Fyah.

What started as Brodahood Records has now evolved into KIVUROOTS RECORDS. The name change reflects a more grounded artistic direction while keeping the same mission at its core: pushing music beyond borders.

Today, KIVUROOTS RECORDS operates as a creative hub made up of producers, artists and promoters working together to bring music from idea to impact. From studio creation and artist development to global distribution and live touring. The label empowers every stage of an artist's journey.

OUR ROOTS

KIVUROOTS is named after Lake Kivu, in the heart of Africa and the birthplace of our producer, Aimé Bugingo (Amigo Gwan).

From the sacred waters of Lake Kivu to the mighty River Nile, KIVUROOTS carries the vibration of the Motherland. A journey of roots, culture, unity and sounds. Linking Africa and the diaspora through conscious music and livity.

The region surrounding Lake Kivu holds both extremes: the painful history of human-made conflict and, at the same time, a majestic and life-giving landscape that carries the memory of our shared human origins.

"Always remember your Oringins.
But never divide, always Unite!"

EVERY RIDDIM TELLS A STORY.

We are specialized in giving each composition its own story, dynamic and energy. We take the listener on a journey through different moods and emotions during a song.

Rooted in Reggae, Dub and African musical traditions, we combine live instruments with modern production. Guitars, bass, keyboards, percussion and talented musicians bring warmth, depth and soul to every riddim.

Especially organic, dynamic and full of character; we refuse to use AI in our productions.

MUSIC FROM THE SOUL.

Our songs are grounded and powerful. Deep basslines, percussions and vibrating riddims that move body and spirit. Other sounds we compose, open into spacious Dub landscapes with reverb, delay and room to set the mind free!

STAY TUNED!
KIVUROOTS IS JUST GETTIN STARTED.

PRISE TO THE JOURNEY.
